Jo-Ann Shaw is a Sydney based photographer and artist. Her photography covers portraiture, real-estate/architecture, automotive, social-documentary, multi-scapes, landscapes and nature; exploration of the realms of identity, irony, illusion, social commentary, photo-journalism, geometry, narcissism, perception, ritual, time, style, spirituality. In other work she engages text, performance, sound, dance, installation and collaboration.

Recent bodies of her work include 2012:Back to the Future, Where We Sleep, Power Animal/Shaman series, Goddess series, Boot, Autoerotik,Once Upon A Spell, Witch Bitch, Oyster suite,and I Killed Kitty.

Jo-Ann Shaw has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney where she studied Fine Art & Photography, a Masters of Art Administration from COFA, the University of New South Wales. She also has a Diploma of Asian Art from The Art Gallery of New South Wales.

She shares a resonance with photographers Man Ray, Cindy Sherman, Max Dupain, Robert Mapplethorpe, Yasumasa Morimura, Destiny Deacon, Tracey Moffatt, Garth Knight, Craigie Horsfield, Erwin Olaf,and Annie Leibovitz.
